It was a packed house at the office of Kagan Law Group on Main Street for the Chamber’s September breakfast meeting. About 35 members, new and old, gathered to get information on the fall and holiday season’s events and tourists activities that will impact village foot traffic and create business opportunities. President, Eliza Starbuck of Flowercup Wine, walked everyone through the events and provided specific times, details, and contact info for the varies upcoming events. John Scherer of Hop’s on Hudson, gave an outline of what their upcoming Harvest Beer and Cider Fest: promoting and inviting participants statewide, including tastings from over 30 of New York States craft breweries and cideries, placing fliers and posters in Metro North stations, pubs, and beer venues around the state, and offering raffle prize sponsorships to local businesses to promote at the event. The event is expected to draw thousands of visitors to Cold Spring on the afternoon of Saturday, October 27. We’d like to thank John for his generous offering of two free tickets to the event which was raffled off to our guests at the meeting. Christine Zouzias of Meraki on Main Street won.
Melissa Carlton of Houlihan Lawrence, who has organized the Cold Spring Halloween Parade for several years, explained what goes into the organization of the parade, including fundraising needs to cover the costs of candy and insurance for the event. The parade this year will also be on Saturday, October 27, gathering on St. Mary’s lawn at 4:00 p.m. and starting to march at 4:30 p.m.
Fran Merando Farnorotto of the Gift Hut, who is working with Archie Broady of Chapeau! to organize this year’s Cold Spring Aglow, outlined plans to invite local community leaders and organizations to help manage the luminary display and shared plans to collect donations and sponsorship funds and items for a giving program for local families in need. Discussions focused on how members could support and sponsor the parade, Cold Spring Aglow, holiday lighting and the importance of storefront window decoration followed.
