NEW MEETING POLICY TO ADDRESS SOCIAL JUSTICE
The recent killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and many other Black Americans by law enforcement officers have traumatized the nation, including our local business community. Under a new policy, called Open Door, the Chamber will provide time at the end of each of its meetings when any attendee is invited to raise concerns, thoughts, and ideas related to social justice in our nation, state, and community. During this period, members of the community may share personal experiences and feelings, ask for help, describe ideas on promoting diversity through business, and bring up any other social topics.
Perhaps these discussions will help enable constructive responses to the inequities in our society. When we listen to each other in honest, compassionate, and respectful conversations, we grow stronger as a diverse and inclusive community.
We hope you will join in the conversation next time!
