Historic House Museum

Built between 1804 and 1808, Boscobel was originally the dream house of wealthy Loyalists. By the 1950s, after falling into disrepair, it was demolished. Preservationists saved as many architectural fragments as possible and reassembled them fifteen miles north to Garrison, where the Neoclassical mansion was restored back to—and even beyond—its original grandeur. In 1961, Boscobel opened as a nonprofit museum for all to experience and enjoy. Today, Boscobel is an incubator for the best of Hudson Valley history, nature, and design.

While the House is currently undergoing its first restoration in over 50 years, with a goal to reopen in Summer 2025, visitors may walk the gardens and grounds with their admission tickets. Their monthly calendar offers educational series, live performances, exhibits, historical tours, artists' passes, community-focused programs, and much more. Additionally, Boscobel has been the home of the Cold Spring Farmer’s Market every Saturday of the year, where local, fresh produce- vegetables, dairy, fish, meats, cut flowers, craft beer, cider and other artisanal products can be found. They are also the host of the annual Boscobel Chamber Music Festival every September, bringing some of the world's most acclaimed chamber musicians for a two-week residency in the Hudson Valley.

There’s a lot to see at Boscobel, but our favorite thing to do is pack a picnic for the lawn and spend an afternoon strolling through the fragrant rose and herb gardens, walk through the apple orchards and along the forested trails, and wandering the historic grand halls of the house. It’s a not a one time visit, but a place we like to frequent again and again. Visit their website for current hours of operation.
