Garrison Art Center promotes the creation, exhibition and enjoyment of art. They’ve been the artistic heartbeat of our community for 60 years.

In 1964 a group of community arts enthusiasts produced a show of local artists' work at the Garrison School to raise funds for the Garrison School Art Fund and to establish the Garrison Art Center, a visual arts education and exhibition space. Since that time the Art Center has grown from serving hundreds of Garrison residents to serving thousands of residents in the Hudson Valley.
Garrison Art Center has become a source of cultural enrichment for our community with its constant evolution of unique fine art programming for all ages. The Center offers pottery classes, summer arts programs and camps for children over five years old. High school students can enroll in the Summer Art Institute, participate in artist mentorship programs, and exhibit in student shows. Adult artists and hobbyists can fine tune their visual art skills through programs, workshops, classes, and studio spaces devoted to expression through fine art techniques and disciplines. Their annual art auctions and the Fine Arts & Craft Fair help fundraise for the center and are a wonderful place to find one-of-a-kind arts and crafts pieces to take home or give as gifts. Additionally, the Center offers professional development for art instructors and workshops for local businesses and nonprofits.
Garrison Art Center is the 2021 recipient of the Parnassus Award, given to an organization that offers exceptional programming and community enrichment through the arts. Through the turbulence of 2020, the Garrison Art Center managed to safely continue providing the area's artists and residents with art classes, programming, and exhibits, which gave us solace and a creative outlet at a time when people needed it most. This community loves the Garrison Art Center and would like to thank them for being a safe haven for so many of us, especially this past year!
