Do you like artifacts, stories, and images from the past? If so, be sure to visit the Putnam History Museum. The museum’s exhibits, indoor and outdoor tours and digital archives will fascinate any history buff.
Housed in a building constructed in the late 1820s as a school for apprentices at the West Point Foundry and other pupils, the Putnam History Museum is open to the public. Its permanent exhibition includes photographs, artifacts, paintings, maps and videos about the West Point Foundry. There are also seasonal exhibitions on local history. The online resources, such as virtual tours, online exhibitions and the ABC Series, offer endless opportunities for discovery to researchers, history enthusiasts and students.
Located on Chestnut Street, the Museum overlooks the West Point Foundry Preserve and provides easy access to the preserve’s walking trails.
