FEBRUARY NEWS

Dear friends, neighbors, and Chamber members,

At last month’s “Meet the Elected Officials” virtual event, we met with New York State Senator Sue Serino and Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, as well as representatives from Nelsonville, Cold Spring, Philipstown, and Putnam County. These elected officials reported what they are working on, and our members learned how the different levels of the government work in tandem. We’d like to thank the representatives for joining us and everyone who attended the meeting. Your participation is what makes these gatherings so interesting and valuable to the community.

Now it’s time to put on your thinking caps, lace up your boots of goodwill, and come to the table to talk about parking in Cold Spring. This month the Chamber will host a discussion on parking in the business district. Members of the business community are urged to share their ideas on managing this scarce public good. Insights from the discussion will be included in a report that the Chamber will submit to the parking committee recently reestablished by the Cold Spring trustees.

A number of useful online services have recently cropped up to help businesses survive Covid-19 and eventually recover. This month’s newsletter describes these affordable marketing and sales tools, which can

  1. Help restaurant and other food-service businesses launch an online takeout-and-delivery business or streamline an existing one.

  2. Help small retailers promote their shop and their online outlet to local customers in the Hudson Valley.

  3. Help organizations publicize events and increase event attendance.

We hope you stay well, get vaccinated soon, find pleasure in small things, keep connected, and continue to be resilient!

Sincerely,

Eliza Starbuck & the Cold Spring Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
