The Chamber is compiling the Insider’s Guide to Cold Spring, Nelsonville, and Garrison. The guide will be a constantly updated, searchable online database of goods and services available from local businesses. For example, if a resident or visitor needs men’s socks, craft beer, or local produce, who in the area sells it? The guide will answer such questions and more.

To participate, local businesses should submit a list of the names of their goods and services phrased as they should appear in the search bar (if an item or service is known by more than one term, list all the terms that shoppers might use when searching), along with the business category that each item or service belongs to (such as women’s clothing, antiques, groceries, prepared food, bike rental, hotel, museum, construction, medical). As a benefit of membership, Chamber members may provide a photo of their establishment and one sentence describing it. The sentence might be phrased like this:

“We specialize in ________ products.”

“We offer _________ services.”

“Our expertise is in _________.”

“Take an adventure to ________."

Andrew Nachamkin, Haldane’s 2020 Senior of the Year, and an intern at the Chamber, is helping us with the project.

Andrew is one of Philipstown’s rising stars. He’s been on the principal’s list in every quarter of high school, has been a lead actor in many of Haldane’s theatrical productions, was the student advisor to the Board of Education in 2018–20, among other achievements. Andrew is headed to Williams College to study statistics and political economy. Before he goes, he’s helping us reach out to local business owners for information to include in the guide.

Thanks, Andrew. The Chamber appreciates your hard work.
