Look what the NewYork-Presbyterian has cooking this month, as part of their ongoing commitment to community health education, they are partnering with local organizations to provide virtual opportunities to learn from and engage with their clinicians. Here’s what is on the calendar for May:

Senior Fitness Circle Dancing with Maria Assis (VIRTUAL)

HealthOutreach invites you to join our Senior Fitness class. Benefits of regular exercise reduce the risk of chronic diseases, lowers the chance of injury and can improve one's mood.

Monday Evening Meditation

Monday, May 24 at 6:00pm to 6:50pm

Meditation practice can help us meet what is going on in our lives with more awareness and compassion. In this 50-minute session we will practice different forms of meditation such as mindful breathing, deep breathing, body relaxation, lovingkindness/self-compassion meditation, and gentle stretching. There will be time to check in and ask questions about meditation practice and receive practice support. Suitable for all levels of experience. Free and open to all. Led by Emily Herzlin.

Cancer Survivorship Series - Meditation Class

If you are having difficulty with a surgical incision or caring for someone who is, or managing diabetes or other conditions, it is essential to know how wound care can be improved. Join Dr. John Ko, a surgeon with NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital, to learn how treatment can help with managing chronic wounds. Chef Emilie Berner will share recipes that provide you with extra protein, calories, and nutrients.

Our cooking demonstration, joined by Ashley Fleischhauer, RN, bariatric manager, is a great opportunity to learn about sauces that will add nutrients and spice up your dishes. Suitable for people who are trying to lose weight, those who have had bariatric surgery, and family members.
